As we reported in the previous newsletter, the GBC have issued an expulsion notice for the second time to remove me as the Temple President of Calcutta, a post I have held for over 20 years. Their plan was as follows:

1. The courts close in Calcutta on September 28th for the holiday season.
   They do not open again until November 15th.
2. We receive the expulsion notice from the GBC on September 19th. This leaves us only *7 working days* before the courts close.
3. The expulsion notice is 500 pages long so that it will take us many days to wade through it and draft a reply, suitable for filing in court.
4. The GBC then filed a 'caveat' with the Calcutta High court. This means that even after we manage to wade through the 500 page document, and draft a response, we have to allow at *least 4 days* just for the response to reach the opposing party.
5. THEN, only after all this has happened, can we even apply for a hearing in court, to get the expulsion notice stayed.
6. And we only have 7 working days to get all this concluded - which of course makes it impossible for us to get the expulsion notice stayed by the court before it closes for 6 weeks.
7. Then once the expulsion has taken effect, the Indian Bureau (which is the actual legal entity that controls all of the properties of ISKCON in India), orchestrated by Gopal Krishna Swami, passes a vote confirming the expulsion.
8. And just to make sure this all takes effect, Mayapura has 200 hired thugs ready to forcefully take-over the Temple.

This is a very sneaky and fool-proof plan, right? WRONG.

On September, 28th, at the end of the day just as the courts were closing for 6 weeks, by some miraculous mercy of Krishna, the High Court was pleased to give an order that stays the expulsion notice!!!

The GBC's plan which is set out in the following note from Ravindra Svarupa is now in shreds:

Instead the court has stayed this notice and stated that 'no further step in the matter would be taken'.

Rather it has called a case hearing in December, wherein we have filed for a motion that will ensure that the GBC can not take such an action like this ***ever again, against anyone***.

The last expulsion notice was issued on February 14th, 1999, and then was rescinded by the GBC themselves on the 27TH March, 1999,  following the filing of our court case against the entire GBC and all ISKCON Gurus.

Thus the GBC's last attempt at expulsion survived a mere 41 days. This time we received the 'show of cause' notice of expulsion on the 19th September, and it was stayed on September 28th. This means that they have even beaten their previous record in that this time the expulsion was stayed in just 9 days! The GBC have made one last desperate throw of the dice and scored another classic 'own goal'. Their last move at expulsion was so disastrous that they had to rescind the expulsion notice themselves! This time all their expulsion notice has achieved is the following:

• Further alienated the Indian Yatra, who had yet to recover from the consequences of their first expulsion attempt
• Wasted precious time and resources putting together a lengthy expulsion notice
• Provided evidence of their aggressive and combative stance, which will ensure that they have no credibility left for any future 'peace' efforts
• Given the green light for JUSTIFIED retaliatory DEFENSIVE measures to be taken by the IRM So as usual the GBC's malevolent and fiendish plot has failed and back-fired. The stay order and the motion we have filed are just the beginning. This is just the first of many motions that will be filed.

We reported in newsletter No.27 ('Big Breakthrough For Krishna in Singapore') on the first ever penetration that ISKCON had made into the large and influential Chinese community in Singapore. Buoyed by this success, the ISKCON temple in Singapore has now moved its temple to larger premises, specifically in the heart of the Chinese community.

Whereas the Indian community are already our well-wishers, Srila Prabhupada was particularly keen for the movement to be spread amongst the local native population. The temple is now located at 23 Lorong 28 Geylang, a largely Chinese-populated area bustling with cultural activities, and already many Chinese have taken darshan of Sri Sri Radha Madana Mohan, bought Srila Prabhupada's books and relished Krishna prasadam. Within a mere week since the temple's shifting, 2 events of significant importance have occurred much to the pleasure of the Vaishnavas there.

The first was Sri Radhastami. During the festival, the devotees had invited the Chang Clan committee (located just below the temple) to participate in the Jhulan (swing) festival for the pleasure of the Deities and honour Krishna prasadam. (The Chinese people in Singapore organise themselves according to their clans, with the Chang group being one such important clan). Over 50 of them attended the festival. Those who attended were very impressed with the prasadam and subsequently within a very short period of time, a good rapport was established between them and the devotees. As a sign of their appreciation, the devotees were in turn invited by the Chinese clans to participate in their annual lantern festival, which is one of their most important Chinese festivals in Singapore, attracting the whole Chinese community. Many Chinese clans conjointly held the lantern festival on the 9th of September just below the temple premises. The Guest of Honour was Mr Chan So Sen, the Parliamentary Secretary for Health. On the actual day, the ISKCON Temple had both the book and prasadam tables set up together with the other Chinese tables and stalls. Following the customary lion dance to invoke auspiciousness and welcome the chief guest, Mr Chan came to the Association Building within which our temple is housed. All the devotees shook hands with the minister. Following the greeting protocol, Chandra Devi Mataji presented the minister with some of Srila Prabhupada's books.

He was astounded by the fact that Vedic-oriented Indians were present for a Chinese festival. After having explained the existence of our new temple within the premises, the devotees accompanied Mr Chan to the various stalls. He very gladly stopped at the prasadam stall and relished Krishna prasadam to his full satisfaction. He then proceeded to the bookstall to view the various books of Srila Prabhupada. The minister was very warm and friendly. After the minister's departure, the devotees were invited to present further books to some of the leading donors of the clan societies.

The programme ended at 10 pm and to the devotees' happy surprise, all the prasadam had been distributed. Prasadam was obviously a big hit with the Chinese people! For many of the Chinese people attending, this has been the first time that a tangible and solid contact with Indian spirituality and culture has been made. Their appreciation has burgeoned and they are coming forward to help us in many ways.

Further evidence of this progress was that on the 7th of September, the devotees were invited to present the pastimes of Lord Krishna at the world famous Asian Civilisations Museum here in Singapore. Entitled "Krishna - child, lover and divinity", the talk was a systematic presentation of Lord Krishna's pastimes from the time of His appearance till the time of His disappearance. His Grace Sundar Gopal Prabhu, the President of the Singapore Temple, touched upon the significance of the Lord's pastimes and the purely spiritual and transcendental nature of His personality.

Topics ranged from Vraja lila to the Bhagavad Gita and the entire presentation was based on Srila Prabhupada's Krishna Book. Srila Prabhupada was also duly given credit and his contribution rightly pointed out to the audience before and after the presentation. The audience consisted of people from various cultures and backgrounds and many pertinent questions related to Krishna Consciousness were posed.

On the 13th of September, devotees again graced the museum for a musical performance centred on Vaishnava music and Harinama sankirtana. This was on the whole a wonderful opportunity to present Krishna Consciousness and Vedic culture to the public through a variety of mediums ranging from art, culture, music and philosophy. A radio station - FM 93.8 has also approached the devotees to broadcast regular thrice weekly programmes regarding Krishna Consciousness and music.

The devotees in Singapore have not obtained this level of enthusiastic response in all of the many years that they have been preaching in Singapore. Srila Prabhupada very much wanted the Chinese in Singapore to take up Krishna Consciousness and help fulfil his desire for Singapore.

We see this now taking root. By strictly following His Divine Grace's instructions and by firmly placing him in the centre of their spiritual lives, the devotees in Singapore are witnessing so many hitherto unfulfilled goals becoming gradually manifest to them. This active propagation of Krishna Consciousness into the heart of the Chinese population, instead of just living off the immigrant Indian population, is just further evidence of the IRM's program of reviving ISKCON according to Srila Prabhupada's actual instructions.

We have been reporting on how Jayapataka has been on the run from the Indian Police following a court order which prevents him from leaving the country. Both JPS and his camp have been trying to fool ISKCON that this is not actually the case, but that actually he is just on a 'normal preaching tour'. We have the following statements from JPS:

He again confirmed this story in his 'Statement of Innocence' which he sent to CHAKRA last week:

This false message has also been communicated to his already demoralised disciples to try and keep their morale up. Thus we have the following message from Bhakti Purusotamma Swami, a fanatical disciple of JPS, and one of the leaders in Mayapura:

We now present the truth from JPS himself. Disgusted with JPS's continual lying, and his pretence that nothing is wrong, one of his loyal disciples has leaked the following message which JPS sent out as early as the 6th September, wherein he reveals the real position to other leaders of the Indian Yatra:

We had been waiting to release this message so as to give JPS a chance to reveal just what a liar he is. And sure enough he has not let us down.

So there you have it. The situation is NOT that everything is fine, and that JPS will return 'soon' from his 'normal preaching tour' as he claims.

The situation is NOT as his disciples claim that he is happy to preach in India even if his movement is restricted. Rather the fact is, as he himself admits that:

As JPS admits above, he IS on the run, and there is EVERY reason for him to be so. Obviously this admission will come as a big blow to his legion of disciples. Not only is 'Guru Maharaja' a big liar, but he is also not the fearless, transcendental warrior they think he is, who is happy to simply depend on Krishna and his supposed 'innocence' to see him through.

Who would simply "stay and preach" in India if his movement was restricted. (After all what does it matter where you are, and India is a big country). NO. JPS is none of these things. Rather, as he admits, he will remain on the run until he can get the court order against him removed. Well we have some news for those who are hoping to see 'Guru Maharaja' again sometime soon. If JPS is waiting for this order to be vacated before he returns to India then it is going to be a VERY LONG time before he comes to India again. Because the case has not even BEGUN yet, and in any case it will be very difficult for him to have the order removed without himself coming to court and protesting his innocence.

All this deceitful behaviour of course begs another question. Where is the importance of the 'living' Guru now? JPS has been more than happy to have Srila Prabhupada ditched on the pretext that Srila Prabhupada can no longer give 'living guidance'. Well what 'living' guidance is he able to provide to the many hundreds of his disciples in India, now that he intends to be on the run for a long time yet? And if the answer is that they can just take shelter of Srila Prabhupada and other senior vaisnavas, then why do we need JPS at all! In other words he is behaving exactly like a Ritvik - gives the name never to be seen again - while the initiates depend of Srila Prabhupada's teachings and the ISKCON Society - which is exactly what was going on whilst Srila Prabhupada was on the planet, and which is exactly what was ordered should continue in ISKCON in the July 9th directive, and which is all the IRM asks should go on in ISKCON anyway!

So please keep the 'fugitive watch' reports coming in with news of JPS sightings as well as his future travel plans. We need to catch him if he tries to sneak into India at any point. We are now getting to the stage that we know where he is going before he even gets there, based on reports of the Visa's he is applying for! Please note the following tip-off we have received regarding his whereabouts:

Obviously all is not well in the JPS camp if such detailed travel arrangements are being leaked to us from those closest to him. It is clear that faith in JPS is rapidly eroding, as the true facts about him, and his lying, are now coming to light.
